The Brighton Marine board of directors has elected a new board chair and appointed a new executive committee, creating a strategic and diverse group to govern the nonprofit.

As Brighton Marine begins the celebration of its 41st year we celebrate COL Robert E Hawes, our founder, our pillar of strength. COL Hawes led an amphibious attack on Omaha Beach on D Day. He was an inspiration then and again on August 28, 1981 when he signed our incorporation.

Brighton Marine had an eventful week last week as they welcomed Massachusetts Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley and Representative Kevin Honan to their campus, accompanied by a Recognition Ceremony to honor the newly appointed Boston Fire Department Chief, Patrick Ellis.

Brighton Marine recently partnered with Soldier On and Fresh Start Furniture Bank to provide a Veteran and single mother with furniture for her apartment. Ashley, a Navy Veteran, and her young son received enough furniture to fill their apartment in Brookline.

Brighton Marine is extremely grateful to Kelly McGrath and the Brighton Elks for their continued generosity toward our Veterans network. For years, the Brighton Elks have supported Brighton Marine and forged a close partnership with both the Veterans and our staff.

Brighton Marine and the Center for a New American Security (CNAS), an independent and bipartisan research institution in Washington D.C. today announced the results of a statewide needs assessment for Veterans in Massachusetts.

On September 15, Brighton Marine opened Veterans Housing at Brighton Marine, an affordable housing facility featuring 25 apartments specifically for vulnerable Boston-area Veterans.

Earlier this month, Brighton Marine and the Medic Now Foundation (MNF), an organization helping Veterans with out-of-pocket costs of health care, hosted an event on Brighton Marine’s campus honoring two Veterans for their service, SPC William Finn and PFC Stuart Franklin.
