Brighton Marine’s commitment to Veterans is steadfast and ongoing. At Brighton Marine, we never forget the sacrifice made by those who have served.


We support uniformed services members, retirees, Veterans and their families by providing US Family Health Plan, wrap around support services and case management for the greater Boston community.

US Family Health Plan
US Family Health Plan is a TRICARE Prime option available to families of active duty military, National Guard, and Reserves, as well as to military retirees and their eligible family members. US Family Health Plan is available in six regions across the United States, with Brighton Marine as headquarters for US Family Health Plan of Southern New England. US Family Health currently serves over 15,000 members in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and portions of Connecticut and New Hampshire.

Coordinated Veterans Services is the Massachusetts’ first coordinated network of public, private and non-profit organizations working together to focus on veterans, service members and their families. We are a voluntary network of service providers covering a wide range of military, veteran and family services.

As a powerful symbol of remembrance this Memorial Day, the East Boston High School JROTC honored our fallen service members by placing flags across the Brighton Marine campus. We are grateful for their meaningful tribute and proud that our Veteran residents were able to witness this heartfelt act of recognition and respect.

Last week, we had the privilege of honoring Derrick Hassell, Brighton Marine’s longest-serving team member, whose dedication has spanned more than 47 years. From his days as a teenager on campus to his current role as Director of Facilities and Maintenance, Derrick has helped shape not just our buildings, but the sense of community and care that defines Brighton Marine.
In recognition of his decades of service to our Veterans and this organization, we proudly rededicated Building 9—our Veterans housing building—in his name.
We’re proud to announce a major milestone in our mission to support Veterans and their families. Brighton Marine is investing $10 million over the next five years to expand our housing and support programs aimed at preventing and ending Veteran homelessness.
At Brighton Marine, we believe housing is healthcare, and we are committed to creating solutions that offer both immediate relief and long-term stability. Thank you to all our partners and supporters who make this work possible.
Brighton Marine was proud to attend the City of Boston Veterans Services Welcome Home Brunch last week, a heartfelt event celebrating and supporting our local Veterans and their families. Mayor Michelle Wu 吳弭 delivered a warm welcome and reaffirmed Boston’s strong commitment to the Veteran community. Commissioner Rob Santiago, a U.S. Navy Veteran, spoke to the City’s unwavering dedication to those who have served. City Councilor Ed Flynn, also a U.S. Navy Veteran, echoed these sentiments, expressing pride in the City’s continued efforts to honor and support all who have served and their loved ones.
Brighton Marine was honored to attend the TAPS Honor Guard Gala, recognizing the profound impact of Bonnie Carroll and the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS). Founded in 1994, Bonnie’s vision has grown into the nation’s leading nonprofit providing compassionate care and resources for grieving military families. Through TAPS Youth Programs, children and teens receive vital support, mentorship, and a sense of community as they navigate their loss. Aligned with Brighton Marine’s mission to support the well-being of military families and veterans, we are proud to stand alongside TAPS in honoring their dedication and service.
Brighton Marine employees were honored to attend the signing of the HERO Act in August, a milestone in expanding support for Massachusetts veterans. As part of this initiative, the newly launched MassVets Benefit Estimator provides a user-friendly tool to help veterans easily access the financial benefits they’ve earned. Yesterday, at the State House in Boston, officials announced the launch of the Massachusetts Veterans’ Equity Dashboard—an important tool that provides key data about our veterans’ employment and economic wellbeing. This launch comes just ahead of National Veterans and Military Families Month in November, a time to honor those who have served.

BMI Board Chair Rosye Cloud recently had the opportunity to meet with U.S. Rep.
