Brighton Marine was proud to be a lead sponsor of the first Our Community Salutes Event in Massachusetts at Northeastern University on April 27, 2019. The first annual Our Community Salutes of Eastern Massachusetts event included a Community Fair and High School Enlistee Recognition Ceremony. The Community Fair included over 20 exhibitors who provide resources to assist the enlistee and their parents. The Recognition Ceremony honored graduating high school seniors planning to enlist into the military immediately after high school graduation. The seniors represent less than one-percent of US citizens in their age group.

Over 600 people attended, including local, state and national leaders. Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker, Brigadier General Vince Malone, Senior Commander Natick Soldier Systems Center, Colonel, U.S. Army Retired, Dan Arkins along with Chief Master Sergeant Henry Hayes of Hanscom Air Force Base spoke at the ceremony. Air Force veteran and TV journalist Randy Price emceed the event and the 78th US Army Band provided the musical entertainment.

“Our group of volunteers believe that graduating seniors going into the military should be recognized for their commitment to the Nation. We are proud of them” states Bob Notch, co-chair of Our Community Salutes of Eastern Massachusetts. “The recognition ceremony was accompanied by a Community Fair designed to connect parents and guardians to organizations that will support them and their enlistee during their service and when they return home” according to Notch.

Congratulations to all the young men and women who are graduating from Massachusetts high schools this May and choosing to enlist in the military. Thank you to all veterans, friends and families who attended the Enlistee Ceremony
